Fig Jam Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh figs
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • Juice from 1/2 a lemon
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 to 4 tablespoons Bourbon optional

Instructions

  • Wash and roughly chop figs.
  • Place figs in a sauce pan followed by sugar and lemon juice.
  • Place the pan over medium high heat. Pour in 1/2 cup water and stir.
  • Once mixture comes to a boil, lower heat and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Once figs are soft, you can mash them with a potato masher or fork.
  • Turn the heat off and if desired, stir in a couple tablespoons of Bourbon.
  • Place in clean jars and screw on the lids (not too tightly). Let it come to room temperature before storing in the refrigerator.
