The super bowl is coming up and I’ve got an awesome oven baked buffalo chicken wings recipe for you! l won’t be watching it but I do love football party food. I don’t watch sports yet I love to play them (ironic I know). I would play any sport; hockey, badminton, baseball, you name it. I was that kid who P.E. was one of my favorite “subjects” lol. I played soccer (or the real football 😉), volleyball and basketball in middle and high school. But don’t ask me to sit down and watch other people play.

In the past I had tried to watch soccer games to learn tactics but I always ended up drifting off into Lala Land. I would think about everything but tactics, from their jersey’s design to what I will be eating later, then I would catch myself and go do something else. I was even less interested in football. The only time I remember watching a football game from start to finish, following it and somewhat enjoying it 😮 was the Eagles game in 2018. The real reason I show up for super bowl parties though is for the food! And maybe the half time show, but I can find that online later on. And while everyone is so tuned in to the game, I can be in the back tuning in to some food.

This is a very simple buffalo wings recipe that you can make for your super bowl party. Or if you are like me you can just make them for yourself so you can enjoy the best part of the super bowl from home 😆 These are made in the oven so no need for frying. They are savory and crispy with a little bit of heat and they go well with this chunky blue cheese dressing. It is best to use a baking rack to make these so they don’t stick to the pan but if not using one just make sure you grease the pan well. With no further ado, here is the recipe.

Oven Baked Buffalo Chicken Wings

The Wings

  • 3lbs chicken wings cleaned and patted dry
  • 1 teaspoon salt or to taste
  • about 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • about 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

The Sauce

  • 1/2 cup hot sauce
  • 1/4 cup butter melted

Method

Preheat your oven to 425ºF. Grease a large baking rack or sheet and set it aside. In a large bowl, combine wings, salt, pepper and garlic powder. Place each wing down on the rack at least an inch apart from each other. Place rack in the oven and bake for about 25 to 30 minutes or until the wings are golden brown and crispy.

While the wings are baking, whisk melted butter and hot sauce in a bowl until completely combined. Put wings in a large bowl and pour hot sauce mixture on them while they are still hot. Mix until all the pieces are coated in sauce. Serve hot with blue cheese dressing and some celery.
